Ckeck Out the New Website!

Hello again

If you're a long-time reader of this blog you might recall that it was originally at www.royeveritt.com, but that was before Blogger changed the way hosted Blogger blogs are uploaded.

So I decided to build a 'proper' website on royeveritt.com and switched this blog to Blogger's own hosting service.

It's taken a while to find the time, but now I can finally announce the brand new, fully functioning and rather stylish new website at http://www.royeveritt.com.

The new site is all about 'Helping You Do Better', with advice, education, and encouragement. It's in it's early stages and I'm still adding content, but take a look and let me know what you think.

Launching The Fifty Quid Challenge

Hello again

The Towergate Accumulator Challenge, in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care, launches this Thursday, 10th June, and your business can benefit, starting right away.

You can learn more about St Nicholas Hospice Care and how you can help them AND help your business at the same time, on the new blog at http://thefiftyquidchallenge.blogspot.com/.

There you'll see a video that includes Jacqui squaring up to one of our worthy opponents in the challenge - to raise as much money as possible, starting with a £50 investment.

To be brief, we jumped at the opportunity to take part by doing what we do best - promoting your business - and our contribution is to be centred around a dedicated website we've created at http://www.thefiftyquidchallenge.co.uk/

But go to the blog first to see an explanation of what you can gain by supporting our campaign, dubbed The Fifty Quid Challenge. Then open your wallet or your cheque book and watch as everyone benefits.

We'd like to win the challenge but it's the taking part that counts, and the more wholeheartedly we all take part the more people St Nicholas Hospice Care can help.

Riding to the Rescue

If you've been following me and/or Cinnamon Edge for any length of time you probably know that we specialise in helping businesses, especially local businesses, with their marketing.

Unless you're a client of ours you probably won't know how we go about doing that, and one of the big dangers, that I warned about in a previous post, is buying marketing services from a company with something to sell.

And by 'something to sell' I mean a particular product or service that they want to sell you, rather than trying to discover what your business actually needs and even if they can really help you at all.

We have something to sell, too. But it's not so much a product or service as an end result, and that end result is success for your business.

Something else you might know about me is that I'm a keen cyclist and therefore very interested, because I'm a student of business too, in the bicycle industry and cycle retailers.

Two recent reports put the value of the UK cycle industry at between 1.5 and 6 billion pounds, so there's a lot of money to be made by people with the necessary passion and business skills.

Now, one of the great things about cycle retailers is that they're usually very enthusiastic about all things cycling. Like most people with a passion, they enjoy working in a business that reflects that passion. But that doesn't always mean they're the best business people and get the best results possible from their business.

Many keen cyclists love their 'LBS' - their local bike shop - because of the enthusiasm and expertise they get from being served by a fellow cyclist, but shop owners take that sort of loyalty for granted at their peril because their customers will be spending their money elsewhere, too.

Which is where I come in. I know for a fact that most bike shops could add about 30% to their sales by making a few small changes to the way they do business. They can probably find another 10-20% with a few other tweaks and the same again with a bit of lateral thinking and inventiveness.

Now, you may not have the time, energy or expertise to do those things for yourself, but I do. In fact, that IS what I do - help businesses add at least 10-30% to their profits by identifying their problems and missed opportunities first and then fixing them.

That, and ride my bike!

Contact me here, email me at roy@RoyEveritt.com or phone 01284 753912 in UK office hours to find out if I can help your business.

Light Haulage Company Must Go Goes Online

Must Go, the Bury St Edmunds light haulage and courier business has actually been online for a while, but their website hadn't achieved much for them until recently.

In fact they now have two sites, including this one, Must Go Couriers and Light Haulage.

Last week, however, that website site (which I created for them) brought them an enquiry from Bristol, over 200 miles from their headquarters in Thurston, just outside Bury St Edmunds. This is well outside the area they reach through any of their offline marketing channels, demonstrating the value of online marketing for a small Bury St Edmunds business like theirs.

The site I created for them is now on page one of Google for at least three valuable search terms, so it looks likely they'll get more business in the future, too.

Online marketing is just a part of the service we offer our consultancy clients, and websites and SEO are a smaller part of that, but it's always good to hear about real-world results like Must Go's.

Roy

PS. What Must Go's website also demonstrates is that you don't always need an all-singing, all-dancing website to get business online. All you need to do is tell potential customers they're in the right place, make them an offer and tell them what to do next. And you need people to find your website in the first place.

Must Go prefer contact by phone, so the site has two phone numbers, an instruction to call them, their business address, their own YouTube video, and some nifty SEO stuff to get it onto page one of Google. Job done.

You're Bigger Than This

If you own or manage a business in the 'real world' (ie, not an online or Internet business), you might be seeing an increasing number of people approaching you to help you 'get online'.

Chances are, though, that you're 'online' already. And you might be wondering what's so great about having a website and a social media 'presence' when it doesn't seem to bring you any noticeable increase in customers for your business.

The problem is, improving your business is a bigger and more complicated job than any Internet marketing services can hope to deal with. In fact, you could be doing everything right online and still be no better off. Your problems might be online, or they might not.

In that case, it's because your problems lie elsewhere, and fixing problems that don't exist won't help at all. You need to diagnose what the problems really are before you can even begin to solve them.

So when you get an Internet marketer or online marketing expert approaching you to offer you a particular service or package before they've even found out about your business, run away!

You need an in-depth consultation, a diagnostic assessment of your business - with no cure-all services for sale - to find the real cause of your business' pain before you spend any more money on marketing services. Just as a good doctor would, we run tests, consider the symptoms and assess your business' overall health before we offer you any 'medicine' at all.

Only then can you be really confident that the treatment you're offered will be the best treatment available to get your business thriving. Often, it's a complete surprise.

Contact us on 01284 753912 or via the Cinnamon Edge website to find out more and book your one to one diagnostic consultation.

Make Your Business Volcano Proof in Two Hours

Is your business, like the airlines, dependent on one source of income?

It's hardly surprising that the airline companies are clamouring to get their planes airborne again. After all, if they're not carrying passengers and freight around the world they're not making money.

In fact, they're leaking money with every extra hour their planes remain grounded.

And there's not much you can do with an airliner except fly it.

But what about your business? Are you dependent on just one source of clients or revenue?

Can you be sure that single source will never dry up, even for a crucial week or two?

Even if you have two or three sources, can you afford to lose even half of a third of your business?

In short: are you volcano proof? You could be.

Our in-depth consultation takes between one and a half and two hours, and sometimes more, and at the end of the consultation you will already have a much clearer idea about your business, and so will we.

You will start to see:
  • Where your business is leaking money
  • Where your business has hidden profit potential
  • How you can get more customers or clients spending more money, more often
  • How you can easily volcano-proof your business by finding multiple sources of clients and revenue
  • How you can do all the above, often spending less, while you increase earnings by at least 20-30%

The in-depth consultation is at no cost to you. After that, and if we think we can help you, you have three options:

  • Do the same as you do now, with the same results, and hope you never see a volcano hit your business
  • Let us create a unique business and marketing blueprint for your company
  • Have us build you a business blueprint and implement it for you

We can only work with a limited number of businesses to implement their own unique plan and we only help one business per sector in any one area.

We also only work with business owners who can see the value of our work and are prepared to make the changes we suggest. Change nothing and nothing changes!

We can consult with and advise more business owners than we have time to work with, of course, so visit us at Business Profits Jump Start to book a slot as soon as possible.

More Online Marketing for Bury St Edmunds

Not content with getting our Solicitors Bury St Edmunds website onto page one of Google for two excellent search terms, and the similar success with our site for Dentist Bury St Edmunds, we now have another new website already onto page two.

This one is for the best accountants firm in town, so we named it Best Accountants Bury St Edmunds. There are a lot of accountancy firms in and around Bury, let alone the rest of Suffolk and East Anglia, but there can only be one best accountant in Bury st Edmunds.

The only question is, who is that to be?

Roy

PS. Search engine optimisation isn't all we do, by any means, although people do find it easier to label us in that way. What we really do is help you find ALL the profit leaks, marketing mistakes and underused resources in your business. That usually takes us a minimum of two hours with you, the business owner, maybe more.

In that initial consultation we promise there will be no sales pitch, no quotes for services and no cheques accepted as a deposit for our services. In other words; no selling at all. Just listening, probing and taking notes. Then we get back to you, probably about a week later, with ideas, suggestions, recommendations and, if we think we can work with you, a proposal for our initial price and our ongoing fees.

Fees are based on your company's size and earning potential and the amount of work we expect to have to do. No two companies are alike and so no two quotes will be the same.

The point is, can you afford NOT to increase your profits by 10, 20 or 30 percent or even more?

Email me at roy@cinnamonedge.co.uk or phone Cinnamon Edge on 01284 753912 to arrange an initial consultation.

NB. We can only work with one company per sector per area so there can be no conflict of interest.

The Google Dance

Over on our Cinnamon Edge blog, we talk about one of the mysteries of Google search results - how a perfectly good website can be listed one day and apparently de-listed the next, and how this 'Google dance' often ends with that site higher in the results than it was before.

But there's another version of the dance, and Google stages it weekly.

It's a result of Google's regular updating of its search results. Google's problem is that it can't close down its service for a second, so updating has to be done in stages, across 10,000 servers worldwide. So at any one time during the update process, some of the servers will have the updated version of the results and some will have the old version.

With 10,000 servers to choose from, there's a good chance that the results of any fresh search you make will be delivered by a different server than the last one. So you will often see websites move up and down the search results with each search you make. This means that websites appear to 'dance' in the results, and this only ends when all 10,000 servers have been updated.

Between updates, websites can also move up and down the results as new sites are indexed, links are followed and websites are updated and improved.

But they dance most energetically once a week, usually on a Monday, apparently, when Google re-jigs its results, server by server, across the planet.

Online Marketing Course Update

Part 6 of the online marketing course for business owners is now up on the Marketing manual blog.

There have been some important changes in SEO in recent months that not every SEO 'expert' has caught onto yet - and ceratinly not all website designers!

Go to the Marketing Manual Blog for latest news on that.

Naturally, our online marketing services in Bury St Edmunds are bang up to date!

Why This Website is Number One

'This website' being our Cinnamon Edge site, which is number one for the competitive term 'online marketing Bury St Edmunds', since that's what we do and that's where we are.

A few months ago, due to an, erm, technical hitch, we had to hastily rebuild our website on a new domain. We decided to use the opportunity to concentrate on getting it to number one as quickly as possible, as a test for ourselves and to prove to you we could do it.

And we did, within about three weeks. The site is still at number one for the key phrase we targetted, but because of the speed with which it was built we didn't really trouble ourselves too much with the design and appearance. So we also proved that, as far as SEO is concerned, design in that sense doesn't matter.

But how did we get to number one? The same way you can; by following the steps outlined here, on our Marketing Manual blog. Steps one to four are there now, with more to follow.

In fact, not only did we get to number one, we even got to positions two to ten at the same time, so we actually held ALL of page one of Google for a time - just to prove we could.

We'll be rebuilding the Cinnamon Edge site again in the next few weeks so it will be a site we can be proud of, but for now it serves to prove a point - online marketing, in Bury St Edmunds or anywhere else, is about much more than building pretty websites.
